WARNING:  THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS

Metal Gear Solid 2 is the sequel to one of the PSone's best game's ever, Metal Gear Solid.  It's one of the most hyped games ever, maybe a bit too hyped.  You star as Solid Snake... for the first hour or so.  Then after that, you go into a new, wimpy character named Raiden.  First as Solid Snake you are trying to get pictures of Metal Gear Ray, after you do, Ocelot comes in and ruins the Commander's speech to hell.  He goes into Metal Gear Ray, tears the Oil Tanker that you are in apart, and then it goes to Raiden.  I do actually find myself enjoying the game quite a bit though, it is pretty addictive.  You can go into a First-Person view when you are in a shootout for better aim and it is just really cool.  When you've set the guards to an alarmed state, you have to look for a place to hide, fast, and get in there.  The enemies are good at acting as a team and trying to take you out.  There are some wierd twists in the game, but most of them I didn't find as confusing as others said they might have been.  Near the end of the game, it goes wacko.  You're on some platform, and you're fighting ten or so Metal Gear Rays.  Now, this is the part that I find they should have definetely changed up a bit.  It's not realistic in any way, and it's just, like, wierd.  First you're inside Arsenal, then you transport to some Halo-looking platform thing.  I didn't find the ending all that bad as much as others say it was, but MGS1's was still a lot better.  Also, after the end credits, well, end, there's another short talk.  Now, at this part, I really liked.  It just kinda creeps you out for some reason and wants you to play the next MGS.  After you have beaten the game, you've gotta try and get all the dogtags, I find this part more fun than following the story.  The story overall I'd have to say was pretty good.  Indeed is better than what some other people say about it.  This game was good, but I find a small tad of dissapointment.  It's obvious though, look at how much hype was weighed on it's shoulders.

Graphics-
10  The graphics in MGS2 are one of the best that I have ever seeb.  There is so much detail... everywhere.  On the guards, on the walls, outside, everywhere.  You get in a shootout in some kitchen and all the watermelons and everything start blowing apart and making a big mess.  On the Oil Tanker scene just the rain and all the water that is happening outside is very detailed.  Awesome graphics.

Sound-
9.0  The sound is solid.  Even stuff that happens out on the environment sounds close to real life.  The gunshots coulda been a little more realistic though.

Control
-  9.5  Very good control, it's easily just pick-up-and-play control.  I found nothing wrong with it.

Replay-
8.5  After you've beaten the game, you can get the dogtags, which is even more fun.  And after you do that, there are many secrets in the game to find.  There's a lot to do in MGS2.

Overall-
9.2  The story was pretty good, but still, MGS1's story was a lot better.  It was REALLY good when you were playing with Solid Snake, but when you were with Raiden it seemed to get a bit worse as time went on.  If all you care about is the story, maybe you should look into just renting MGS2 before looking into buying it.  If you don't care a whole lot about the story, then you could probably go out and get this one, now.
