Twisted Metal: Black is a fast-paced car combat game for the Sony Playstation 2. Now, you might be saying, the latest sequels to the TM series since TM2 have all just majorly sucked, why should I look into this one? That's an easy answer, because TMB is created by the people who made the first two in the series. It's a very fun game, and yet it's pretty damn hard too. It's not so hard as to where it gets frustrating though. The stories on some of the people are kinda lame, such as Roadkill's for instace. He's a guy who's at some kind of mental hospital. He has no idea who the hell he is, but he has all these tatoo's over him and he thinks they could somehow be the answer to all of it. He wants to know who he is, so a fiesty little fellow named Calypso comes to his room and asks him to join the contest, if he wins he'll find out who he is. This is how most of the stories for the people are. When you're in the game, there is so much going on. There is a lot of detail on your car. Get a homing missile, and you'll see it pop out at some place on your car. There are plenty of weapons to keep you occupied. The game is rated M for good reason. Some of the "cinematics" in the game are quite sickening, like with Mr.Grimm who eats human flesh. The cinematics aren't exactly, well, cinematics. They usually have your character talking, and show pictures of what he's talking about, and it's all good.
Graphics- 8.0 Solid graphics, everything from your car to the explosions to the missiles in flight.
Sound- 9.5 The sound is awesome in TMB. Just a simple missle flying over your head sounds awesome. If, for some odd reason, you care for a game just for its sound, GET THIS NOW!!
Control- 7.0 Okay, there's something wierd here. The developers of this game make you use two of the analog sticks, I think right is acceleration and left is turning. You could just solve all these by using the the directional pad though, but it starts to make your hand tired using it.
Replay- 8.0 Pretty good replay value in TMB. Once you beat it with one person, doesn't mean you've beaten the game. You gotta unlock everything and beat the game with every person.
Overall- 8.0 Rock solid game with great battles. A lot of people aren't into car combat games, if you aren't, rent this and see what you think for yourself. If you are a car combat fanatic, GET THIS NOW!!
