Special K
Fast. Boy do you ever fly in this game. Unfortunately, you are racing on crowded city streets. So, when you dont turn correctly, or drive a little too recklessly, you will become roadkill. Burnout is a fast and fun racing game that focuses on its strength(insane speed) and doesnt let up. The competitive races make you keep your foot on the pedal until the race is done. The smallest mess up can ruin the whole race. The gameplay is fun though. Damn fun. If there are any problems with it is that the checkpoints feel pointless and add unnecessary challenge. Also, the AI drivers never fall behind that far, they always catch back. Which sucks if you have the race of your life and then crash at the finish line and then lose. Horrible stuff, and it makes the game feel very frustrating at times. The music in the game sucks as well. I muted it within minutes of renting the game. Engine noises however are quite good and sufficient. Control-wise the game is very sharp. Its responsive and powerslides have never been this fun. The graphics are nicely detailed. They move fast and deliver the best crashes in videogame history. If you are looking for a purchase here you might be turned off by the games short length. It has decent multiplayer, but there are very few cars and the tracks arent numerous. Overall Id recemmend a rent or two and then wait for the sequel which could deliver a lot more to this solid gameplay.
Graphics: 8.5 Solid. Very fast and smooth. Great details and the coolest crashes ever to grace a video game.
Sound: 4.5 Oh god! The music bites serious @#*(#! The noises arent bad though. Too bad the music is so horrid.
Control: 9.5 Gosh, I love these powerslide. Its soooo much fun slicing through traffic at 100 miles per hour around a hairpin curve. Responsive and precise:)
Replay: 5.5 Good multiplayer will last a bit. Too bad there are barely enough tracks and cars to fill up a weekend. And there are barely any game modes, whats up with that?
Overall: 7.4 This game has awesome gameplay. Its too bad the A.I. is so cheap and the checkpoints feel so pointless. More depth and better A.I. will make the sequel and unbelievably cool game. Rent this game for sure, just be very wary of a purchase.
